Toxic Polarization Is Killing Us: How a New Worldview Could Heal Politics By Annick de Witt Ph.D.

Please join us for a presentation and discussion by Annick de Witt, Ph.D.—social scientist, author, and co-creator of the Worldview Questionnaire.

In her recent insightful article, Annick de Witt reframes our cultural conflict as a “war of worldviews”—shaped as much by underlying lenses on meaning and truth as by policy debates. Annick is the co-creator of the Worldview Questionnaire, which is featured on her website, and also on the Institute for Cultural Evolution’s website. Drawing on her cultural expertise, Annick explains how today’s polarization is fueled by shifts and clashes between traditional, modern, and postmodern mindsets. She challenges us to move beyond mere criticism or ideological defensiveness, and instead grow into a more developmental, integrative way of seeing—one that can bridge divides, honor diverse concerns, and foster creative solutions for our shared future.

Annick de Witt, Ph.D., is an author, the founding director of Worldview Journeys Foundation, and affiliated with Utrecht University as a researcher and educator.
